A Fragile Process of the Creative Minds

"Collaboration" a joint piece by Lukas Evergreen & Lisa Marten. c. 2012

I love being eclectic in my taste of artistic espression...not only in what I like to experience from others, but also in what I like to participate in myself. Lately I've been embracing a wider variety of my own expression through multi-media avant-garde live performances. These include dance, painting, drama and music choreographed together  to tell a story and become an experience of art for all involved (those of us participating and those who come to watch). These performances are meant to be shared by all.
My creative partner, Lukas Evergreen (along with our company of performers, Naomi Psalm, Krysta Nebeker, and Jeremy Busack) performed our latest creation at Art in the Bar V held at The Knitting Factory Concert House in downtown Boise. I love love love this art event! It's the largest local art show in Boise sponsored by Dead Bird Gallery and it takes place four times a year. It's an amazing show to connect and network with other artists of all various mediums and styles and to connect and network with the public as they get to enjoy the show for free. Inside the venue features artbooths by tons of the most talented and ecclectic artists that the Treasure Valley holds. Lukas and I shared a booth and displayed our work together. And outside we constructed a HUGE bubble cube where we performed for a large crowd that had formed.

This latest performance took us about 4 months of planning and 2 months fully practicing multiple times a week to present it to the public. We had so much fun in the creation of this piece, in the execution of the piece, and in the aftermath of the piece. The real point to these live performances is the opportunity to connect with people before and afterwards. We love people! Art is an amazing thing...it really does start the conversation and it's a exciting moment when you recognize that it is operating as the catalyst that sparks connection and community.

I love love love what I get to do.
Here is a brief synopsis of what the Art in the Bar V performance was about...and as you scroll down you will find a link to a YouTube video taken of it in it's entirety.
Please enjoy and may you know that you are loved and that you are not alone. we need each other. Let's keep engaging in the creative process and paint on each others' lives.
Dive deep!
Lisa

Artist Statement of Performance...

yellow is representative of Divinity. blue is representative of Baptism & Birthing. the Bubble is representative of the right side of everybody's brain which is where we experience creativity.

the song represents a desire for each other in community. it is painted through the pure aspects of materialistic humanity. whether good or evil, we must search for Truth up until the end.

how we influence each other through collaboration.
we teach. we learn.

we can't help coming away from collaboration with a little bit of each other afterwards.
who we are is a piece of everyone we have connected with.

the piece is representing when we collaborate with each other, we as the participants are neurons in the brain responding to each others' ideas and cross pollinating.

painting on each other is just that...ideas connecting, moving, and influencing as the work comes together, execution of the work...that IS collaboration...results in the final piece as it is brought together...IS the work.

the work is painting on people's lives. it is the connection of Divinity and humanity.
collaboration. fellowship.
